Overview & Commitment to Campus Safety
The college is unequivocally committed to providing a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Recognizing that safety is a foundation upon which academic excellence is built, the institution has implemented a multi-layered, technology-integrated security framework that operates round the clock, 365 days a year.
This document outlines the comprehensive safety and security measures in place across the campus, covering physical infrastructure, human resources, technological systems, and procedural protocols. All security measures are reviewed periodically and updated in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Security Personnel & Guard Deployment
Round-the-Clock Security Guards
A dedicated team of trained and licensed security guards is deployed across the campus at all times. Guards are sourced through a reputed security agency and are vetted through comprehensive background verification prior to deployment.
- Minimum of 6 guards on duty per shift, with enhanced deployment during examinations, events, and late-night hours
- Guards are stationed at all entry and exit gates, administrative buildings, hostels, laboratories, and parking areas
- A Shift Supervisor oversees each shift and maintains a daily occurrence register
- Guards carry walkie-talkies and are in constant contact with the central security control room
- Female security guards are deployed specifically at women's hostels, restroom blocks, and examination halls
Roving Patrol Teams
In addition to stationary posts, mobile patrol teams conduct regular sweeps of the campus grounds, parking lots, peripheral boundaries, and lesser-frequented areas.
- Patrols conducted every 1 hour during the day and every 30 minutes during the night
- Patrol routes are randomised to prevent predictability
- Patrol logs are digitally recorded and reviewed by the Security Officer daily
CCTV Surveillance System
Camera Coverage & Specifications
The campus is equipped with a state-of-the-art Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system providing comprehensive, uninterrupted monitoring of all critical and vulnerable areas.
- Over 150 high-definition IP cameras installed campus-wide, covering entry/exit points, corridors, classrooms, laboratories, canteens, libraries, parking zones, and open grounds
- Cameras feature night-vision (IR) capability, wide-angle lenses, and weather-resistant housings for outdoor installations
- Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras deployed at the main gates and open areas for enhanced situational awareness
- All camera feeds are monitored live from a centralized Security Control Room staffed 24/7
- Footage is stored on secure Network Video Recorders (NVRs) with a minimum retention period of 30 days
- The system is integrated with motion-detection alerts that trigger alarms and notify security personnel in real time
Boundary Walls & Physical Security Infrastructure
Perimeter Boundary Walls
The entire campus is enclosed within a robust physical boundary to prevent unauthorised access, trespassing, and security breaches.
- Compound walls of a minimum height of 8 feet (approx. 2.4 metres) surround the entire campus perimeter
- Anti-climb measures including barbed wire, concertina wire, and anti-trespass spikes are installed along the top of the boundary walls
- Regular structural inspection and maintenance of boundary walls is carried out every quarter
- Boundary walls are equipped with perimeter lighting to eliminate blind spots during night hours
- Motion-sensor floodlights are installed at critical perimeter points and rear areas
Entry & Exit Gate Management
Controlled access through designated entry and exit points is a primary line of defence for campus security.
- The campus operates two main vehicular gates and one dedicated pedestrian entry gate
- All gates are manned by security personnel and equipped with boom barriers and spike strips for vehicular control
- Visitor log registers and digital entry management systems record all guest entries with name, purpose, contact number, and time of visit
- All vehicles entering the campus are subjected to a visual inspection; random checks are carried out
- After-hours entry (post 10:00 PM) requires prior authorisation from the Warden or Campus Security Officer
Identity Verification
Visitor Management
- All visitors must register at the main gate with a valid government-issued photo ID
- Visitor passes are issued for a defined duration and must be surrendered at exit
- Unannounced visitors are not permitted entry without confirmation from the relevant department or faculty member
- Parcel and courier deliveries are accepted only at the designated security desk and are logged before being forwarded
Background Verification of Staff & Personnel
Pre-Employment Verification
The college enforces a mandatory and thorough background verification process for all categories of employees and contracted workers before they are permitted on campus.
- Criminal record check conducted through appropriate government channels (police verification certificate mandatory)
- Educational qualification certificates are verified with the issuing institution
- Previous employment references are checked for a minimum of the last two employers
- Address and identity verification conducted using government-issued documents (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, etc.)
- Drug and substance abuse screening carried out for security, transport, and laboratory staff
Third-Party & Contract Staff
- All outsourced agencies providing housekeeping, security, canteen, and transport services are required to submit verified employee rolls before commencement of work
- Agency-provided staff undergo re-verification every academic year
- Temporary or event-based contract workers are issued time-limited passes and must be accompanied by an institution-assigned supervisor
- The institution reserves the right to conduct random spot checks and request re-verification of any staff member at any time
Ongoing Monitoring
- A staff conduct register is maintained, and any incidents, complaints, or disciplinary actions are formally recorded
- Background checks are repeated every two years for all permanent staff
- Security personnel undergo refresher training on conduct, ethics, and de-escalation protocols every six months
